Covenant Bible Camp Merger Announcement
Friends of Bible Camp, I was privileged to serve as the Bible Camp Director for the past four years. With an amazing team, I have seen the Lord change hundreds of lives and build His Kingdom through work on the banks of the North River. In the past year, two strategic planning sessions made it clear to the Bible Camp Board and to me that our ministry has grown to the point where having one part-time Executive Director is not sufficient. Expanding the role or adding staff is not fiscally sustainable. We want to reach as many kids for Christ as possible and increasing costs to campers would hinder our mission.
As we prayerfully considered our options, it became clear that a merger with a close ministry partner crucial to Camp's success every year was the best option for the ministry. Covenant Youth of Alaska (CYAK) has been closely involved with Bible Camp for the past quarter-century and we share a common mission and heart. I am excited to see how God will use the capable team of CYAK staff who will be able to share and build on the work of previous Camp Boards and Directors. We see this as an opportunity to deepen how we already share ownership of the ministry to open it to further growth in Kingdom work.
With the merger, the Camp Board has concluded its ministry and the legal merger will be complete in January 2017. The responsibilities of the Executive Director will be shared amongst the CYAK staff. Bible Camp will continue to need considerable financial support each year and volunteers for summer staff. CBC will retain its own budget and checking account, and will add a second office in Anchorage. The experience of volunteers and campers should only continue to improve with more people preparing for each camp season. CYAK's Associate Director Adam London will serve as the Administrative Director and coordinate the efforts of the CYAK staff who will spearhead fundraising/grant writing/development, volunteer and camper recruitment, programming, and web content/communications. Brad Webster, the current Camp Steward, will now serve as the Site Director during the camp season. I will remain involved with supporting the ministry as I am able as now I am transitioning to full-time CYAK staff in Norton Sound. If you have camp-related inquires about next summer, please direct them to [email protected]. You can reach me via e-mail at [email protected]. Support checks can still be written to "CBC" but mailed to a new address: Covenant Bible Camp PO Box 203356 Anchorage, AK 99520. Thank you for supporting this incredible ministry. God is faithful to lead and to provide!
In Christ,
Nick Bruckner
